Gliding is an exhilarating sport.  If you, or a lucky someone, would like to take up Gliding, you’re looking for a thrilling day out, or experience an unusual and memorable gift, you’ve come to the right place!

The Devon and Somerset Gliding Club is is a great place to come and experience your first flight! Easy to get to from the A30/A303 or M5, you’ll have amazing views from the glider… An experience of a lifetime, floating quietly and effortlessly above some of Devon’s most spectacular countryside. See the beautiful Blackdown Hills, Exmoor and Dartmoor, and on a clear day see both South and North Devon coasts and sometimes even across to Wales.

We would be delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to experience the thrill of a flight in one of our fabulous and well maintained two seater gliders with a qualified instructor.

You will usually be taken to the skies for your first flight towed behind a powered aircraft on an aerotow, which will typically be between 15 and 30 minutes long.  This is dependant on the weather, You may be able to experience ridge lift, soar in thermals (maybe with our local Buzzards or even the occasional Red Kite!), or simply float gently back down to land back at the airfield. You can elect to take the controls yourself or just experience the amazing sensation of flight, powered by nature itself!

First Flights are bookable on our normal Club flying days – Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Young people under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian’s written consent.  Also there are a few medical conditions which may make it unsafe to fly.
